I'm a graduating senior, very interested in Investment Banking (Corporate Finance / M&A).
What do you think about spending some time in Microfinance, and then going into Investment Banking? Would that make sense? Would I develop valuable skill-sets that I-Banks would value? The reason I bring this up is that the market is bad, and I'm trying to distinguish myself in the industry. I would appreciate any feedback.
FYI I genuinely admire microfinance, i'm not simply using it as leverage for a career in i-banking, but I want to follow adequate steps - it seems like what would be more natural is to work in I-banking, Then PE/VC Firms, then and then switch over into micro-finance..
