I wanted to reach out to everyone to give you an opportunity to earn some extra cash and help WSO at the same time.

I am looking to fill up the sponsorships to the forums to help fund a lot of web development that is going on in the background to give you improved features, layout and look. The problem is I am pretty busy with school about to start, managing the web development and marketing and I figured the collective user group on WSO probably has many more ideas than my small team.

Anyway, I wanted to offer you the same commission that I offer the few guys that help me out already. If you can identify and place any new sponsors to the forums that don't have sponsors yet I will pay you 50% of the first month sale, 25% of the 2nd month and 10% for months 3 through 12 (assuming the sponsor stays on). As you might have noticed, we have launched a new and improved search module with Google's technology.

Now you should be able to find a lot of the rich content on WSO in the archives MUCH easier. In addition, you can now search with two or three letters no problem (ie "MS" or "GS", "tmt", etc) and still get results.

Many, many, many other improvements are on there way in the coming weeks. Please stay tuned.

In other news, we are now over 15,000 registered members strong. While we are a little behind my goal to reach 20k registered members by the end of 2008 I know it's still possible so any help on that front recruiting your friends and colleagues would be much appreciated!

Hey guys, coming to you from Siem Reap in Cambodia, I have released a new and improved version of the 2008 Recruiter Database. You just have to log in (or register if you haven't already) to view it and click on "Recruiter Database" in the green welcome block to see it.

This list is more extensive than the one I had up previously and also includes websites (where all the data was compiled) and location. Please note, I know some of the locations are chopped off depending on your screen resolution and I will work to fix that when I get back from SE Asia.

Also, some good news on the web developer front. Looks like I may have found another talented Drupal developer that should help us continue to make improvements to WSO and bring it to the next level (functionality, look, etc.).

After personally having gone through the materials in detail I can honestly say that this would have been a huge help to me before i started my analyst program back in 2002 (especially coming from a liberal arts background).

The last two weeks have been very tough.

After trying to install some new modules for Drupal that would give some private forums, I think our entire database got out of whack. In the process of trying to speed things back up I upgraded to a monster server, only to be disappointed. I should have known that throwing hardware at the problem is rarely the solution.

Ok Fellow Monkeys,

The time has come. Too many monkeys swinging from too many branches and me spending too much time on trying to reduce the server load. We are about to upgrade to the motherload of all servers. My hosting cost will more than double, but your browsing speed and experience should be significantly enhanced (probably 4x faster).

I just wanted to apologize for all of the slowness on the server today. One of the web developers turned off the cache and I've been smashing my head against the wall messing around with modules for the past 4 hours trying to figure out why the load was so high.

Always look in the most obvious place first.

Today was a mess but hopefully you like the new features coming up.

If we go down after midnight for a few minutes I apologize.

I am doubling the RAM of our dedicated server from 2GB to 4GB so that the site can handle all you crazy monkeys during peak hours.

Just wanted to give everyone a few updates:

#1. Internet Explorer 6 has had trouble with the current layout and theme since launching WSO. Firefox displays the site how it is supposed to be displayed, but unfortunately many people at work still use IE6 so I thought we could develop a separate, simpler theme for people using IE6 (or if they are at work). I wish we had thought of this solution earlier...

Although I don't think all of the kinks are worked out, when you log into the site using IE6, you should now see a new theme called Blue Marine that should make navigating around the site much easier. It is also much simpler and will probably garner less attention at work. By tomorrow, IE7 should be back on the wallstreetoasis theme, but IE6 will remain on Blue Marine for the indefinite future so that people using that browser can still navigate around the site without columns jumping into the middle of the screen or getting squished.

Note, if you are logged out, you still may be seeing the wallstreetoasis theme since anonymous users see cached pages. You need to register or log in to see the Blue Marine theme.

#2. After receiving encouragement from a few users, I had my web developer install a Donation module for the site at http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/donations
