Bonus Bananas April 12, 2013

Sorry I'm late guys. I got hung up touring the Presidential Suite and drinking champagne at the Hotel Crillon before it closes until 2015 for renovations. Let's rock:

1) No Marriage PitchBook – Project Two Chainz (Wall Street Playboys) - If you thought the Babydick Capital pitchbook was funny, you're gonna love this DCF analysis of the pros and cons of marriage (it's DCF because if you opt for marriage your cash flow will definitely decline). Even cooler that this was made by a WSO member. Funny stuff.

2) Ex-HBOS chief Crosby asks to be stripped of knighthood (Reuters) - Pay attention, guys. This is how you accept responsibility for your role in the global financial crisis. Crosby became the first person in almost a century to voluntarily surrender his knighthood, and he gave up a third of his pension for the mess he and Fred the Shred made at HBOS.

3) This Up And Coming Model Saved $500,000 Before The Age Of 30 (Business Insider) - Who says all models are dumb? This one managed to live below her means and sock away a half mil before she was 30. Reminds me of an h***er I once knew in Vegas who owned a ranch in Palm Springs and her Vegas condo free and clear.

4) Tony Romo New Highest Paid NFL Player After Taxes (Americans for Tax Reform) - Well, it was Drew Brees, but the lack of state tax in Texas pushed Romo over the top. Still sucks to be a Cowboys fan and watch this guy come out and do nothing every year.

5) I had 10 jobs before 25 (CNN Money) - Are millenials job jumpers? In this market I think you have to be. Plus it's not really a new thing. I had at least two dozen jobs before 25.

6) Bitcoin May Be the Global Economy's Last Safe Haven (Businessweek) - I'm posting this one for the irony. How quickly things can change. One week you're raving about how BitCoin is the world's last safe haven and the next week...well...here we are.

7) Crowdfunding Industry On Fire: Trends to Watch (Entrepreneur) - The SEC is dragging their feet on this legislation, but that doesn't mean things aren't happening behind the scenes. Crowdfunding is here to stay and if the feds don't get out of the way the market will just find a way around them.

8) The Big Comeback: Is New Orleans America's Next Great Innovation Hub? (The Atlantic) - Great article about the Big Easy and how it's becoming a tech hub. I've witnessed so much of this firsthand and I honestly can't wait to get back and be a part of it again. All the NOLA haters can suck it; New Orleans is the center of the universe.

9) Shodan: The scariest search engine on the Internet (CNN Money) - This is really cool in a pretty scary way. Shodan gives you access to the Internet back channels, and you won't believe how insecure some networks are. I mean, you could theoretically turn someone's webcam on without their knowing it. Not that you'd ever do anything like that.

10) 20 “Big Lebowski” Facts That Will Make You Love This Movie Even More (Buzzfeed) - This is one of my all-time favorite movies and this list is pretty awesome. Makes me want to watch the movie again while pounding a Caucasian. (wait, that didn't come out right...)

Video of the Week:
The following is a trailer for what is the most anticipated movie of the summer for some people. The movie is Elysium, and it stars Matt Damon and is directed by Neill Blomkamp of

fame. This looks like a world-class mindf**k, and I'm definitely looking forward to it. Plus, the premise is really cool. Who wouldn't want to live offworld and avoid all the unwashed masses? Pretty baller if you ask me. (and I love what a shitshow Earth becomes when all the rich people leave) Enjoy:

That's it for this week, guys. Let me know what you think of this week's Bananas in the comment and have a fantastic weekend.

Elysium looks like an anti-Ayn Rander wet dream.

That's funny, because my initial reaction after watching the trailer for the first time was, "Holy shit, it's Occupy Wall Street in space!"

"That dude is so haole, he don't even have any breath left."

Never really thought about it, but I have had 9 jobs already. Most were before college, only had two since getting my degree. Crazy to think about.
