Bunkr:PowerPoint :: Tinder:Ice Cream Social
Just when I think it's safe to wash my hands of the French tech scene entirely, the frogs come up with something spectacular. Are you still throwing together pitchbooks using PowerPoint? Ewwww...
You guys are gonna have to see this to believe it. This won't appeal to the IBD divisions around the world, because they're too entrenched in old tech. But if you have to build a VC deck for your hot new startup, look out. Allow me to present Bunkr, the PowerPoint slayer.
Now you can build an entire presentation by just pointing and clicking the relevant data on the web. Layout is seamless as you can just click to drag, position, and resize elements. And guess what else? Presentations can be exported in a number of formats (including PowerPoint, of course) as well as HTML5, so your presentation looks slick across every possible display - from the 60" flat screen in the conference room to the CEO's smartphone in the back of a cab.
Here's a quick video illustrating how it works:
Again, I can't see the BB's adopting technology like this, but for the little guys who need to stay nimble, this can be a lifesaver. I might be biased because I've never liked PowerPoint (that's not to say I prefer something else; PowerPoint was still the only game in town until Google Docs), but this looks like a really simple, intuitive platform to put together impressive presentations.
And for less than $15 a month you can rope in your whole team and collaborate.
I have to say I love innovations like this, because it's clear that's where we're headed. Microsoft even knows this, evidenced by all the resources they've thrown into Office 365 and SkyDrive.
I hope some of you (along with me) try this. It's free for one user and I'd be interested to see what you guys think. Obviously, you all use PowerPoint a lot more than I do, but if this can alleviate the formatting headaches in PowerPoint, that alone will make the switch worth it.
I'm interested to hear what you think.
Definitely going to try it out
I'll give it a shot as well. Last year, we introduced Prezi, which some of the MDs liked and most hated. This will probably be similar. Cool idea though.
I tried to get into Prezi, but I ultimately found it limiting. Maybe I'm not creative enough...
I will check it out as I don't really like PowerPoint much..
A lot of startups are looking to create a sleeker web based version of excel and PowerPoint, and I would blame Paul Graham for that. Regardless, I fail to see how any of that will ever be a 'game changer' since it is simply a web based derivative of MS office possibly with a few more bells and whistles attached.
