Decade In Review - NFL Style
I came across this video and thought you'd all enjoy it going into a major playoff weekend. ESPN produced it before New Year's, but it's a pretty cool review of the past decade and some of the major events that took place. One thing that really stood out for me was how badly I wanted to punch Eli Manning in the throat when he pulled his little spoiled brat routine on draft day, but then how inspired I was by his performance in Super Bowl XLII.
Seeing the Arizona tribute to Pat Tillman was pretty cool, too. Enjoy. Oh, and Geaux Saints!
"our idiot kicker" ha
No interest in NFL since implementation of socialist salary cap.
The salary cap has done more for the capitalist side of the business than any other move in the past 3 decades. The parity it brought to the league all but did away with boring dynasties and ensured that on any given week, any NFL team could potentially beat any other NFL team.
Socialist salary cap? How in what way? The salary cap if anything is a capitalist move, it made the league competitive and ensured that fans, players, coaches get a bang for their buck. It put suspense back in football and allowed teams like NO to compete. So I'd argue very much against "socialist", throwing words you've heard from Limbaugh into any argument doesn't really help
WTF, where was Hester's Super Bowl kick off return? In fact, there wasn't one Bears clip, muthaf...
No Bears clips b/c the McCaskeys had the G.O.A.T. video of Pat serenading "Urlaaaaacher" while being teary eyed and piss drunk, removed from memory. Shit's nowhere online, most embarassing organization in American pro sports after the Mets, though the Cubs are trying to keep pace with both and failing miserably...as usual.
Btw, heard Buffon wants to leave The Old Lady, got any news?
Yeah, it's tough being a Chicago sports fan (unfortunate Cubs fan, too). But c'mon, Hester's Super Bowl opening return was the first in history. How is that not a decade NFL highlight?
As for Buffon, I think he's just been frustrated with not only this season's team performance (and the past few years), but with his injury, and manager changes and speculation. They haven't led Italy in a while (damn Inter), they have a new coach this season, and there is already speculation about another one for next season. I doubt he actually leaves, though.
I think he will retire soon, and then maybe he will join Cannavaro in a staff position when he retires too.
Memories of the Giants beating the Patriots in the Super Bowl will always warm my heart. The helmut catch play always gives me the chills. All the world, outside of New England, celebrated that night.

I hear ya. I hear the new girls soccer team the Red Stars is pretty good though:)
Man the Calcio has just fallen apart I remember going to watch Milan when Gullitt, Van Basten and Baresi were the anchors. What happened?

To each his own, I see the old Cowboys, 49ers, Giants (talking about mostly the 80's/90's since I dont remember the 70's well as being the winners and the old Cardinals, Bucs, Rams as being the dog shit.
What I see today with the redistribution of wealth, good players getting cut every year b/c of accounting constraints and teams nobody could ever get excited about (honestly, Uncle Eddie...Saints vs. Jets Super Bowl, you really want that shit?)...I dunno.
Fuck the fairness, give me have's and have not's. That's why I came to America, not for fucking regulated "and justice for all".
Give me Michael Irvin, his pimp hat, his sugar bowl of blow and Jimmy Johnson's greezy azz hightop fade that no white man should genetically be able to have and I AM GOOD:)
Word up King,
But I personally enjoyed it more when those nondescript hix from Buffalo chokacized in 91 and Big Blue won it ugly and dirty. Also, the game before that Giants vs. 49ers. Arguably best offense ever against one of the most underrated D's of all time.
Leonard Marshall snapping Joe Montana's back like a twig. Steve Young coming in and Pat Summerall drunkenly babbling "who is this guy? oh yeah...he didn't throw like this in Tampa"
Damn I miss that shit.
Lets hope the next decade brings us even more NFL joy. Cant wait.
You're right, Mezz. There is absolutely no better sport in the world.
On a related subject, GQ just dropped a bombshell and it shocked the shit out of me. Remember Marvin Harrison and his magic hands? Well, he may have committed a double homicide in North Philly. Check it out:

The article brought so many new facts to light that the police have been forced to re-open the investigation. Wild shit.
