Fred Phelps Dead

http://edition.cnn.com/2014/03/20/us/westboro-church-founder-dead/

It's times like these I wish Hell weren't just a fantasy.

Of course his flock of fucktards is doubling down on his crazy:

In a statement Thursday, the church chided the "world-wide media" for "gleefully anticipating the death."

"God forbid, if every little soul at the Westboro Baptist Church were to die at this instant, or to turn from serving the true and living God, it would not change one thing about the judgments of God that await this deeply corrupted nation and world."

Here's hoping he died terrified and in pain.

Unlike him, I understand that it's not my decision whether he goes up or down. As much as most people dislike him, we shouldn't stoop to his (hateful) level of judgment.

At least more funerals can now happen in peace...

At the end of the day, it's not our place to judge him. It just is what it is. Here's hoping the world will be filled with a little less hate.

I see this sentiment and I don't understand it. If he'd stayed home and hated gays, I'd have no opinion. Instead, he went out and harassed people, often adding to their pain.

Guy was a scumbag and I'm surprised he wasn't whacked or beaten mercilessly. Especially the military funerals, it's just such a scummy thing to do. He used freedom of speech as an angle to abuse people, and although everyone has the right to think and say as they please, what he did was just cruel. I can guarantee you that if he'd done that at a military funeral in my hometown (working class town, they're common) he'd be shot, and no one would say a word.

@UFOInsider : He was a hateful, evil man, no question about it. I think OttoReadmore was just pointing out that he stood for hatred, and we shouldn't retaliate in kind (tempting as it is to spit on his grave).

Definitely my point. He's dead and gone now. As shitty as the things he did were, he won't be doing them anymore. We shouldn't make him a martyr for the cause of hate.

I'm just advocating he be recognized for what he is, not going around acting classless. This whole "we shouldn't judge" or "let's take the high road and pity him" ....fuck that. The time for that was decades ago before he comitted to doing wrong by a lot of people. I define hell as a self imposed state of mind, but if there really is a fiery pit I'm pretty sure he's there now.
