Free Investment Banking Workshop
Attention West Coast monkeys (and anyone else who plans to be in the San Francisco Bay Area this weekend): I know this is a little short notice, but there is a FREE investment banking workshop being held at UC Berkeley this weekend, and it's open to everyone regardless of school or major.
Leaders In Investment Banking is sponsoring the workshop and you can sign up here. The workshop covers breaking into IB, with sections on resume prep, a technical workshop, behavioral workshop, and one-on-one interview prep.
If you have any questions, fire away in the comments section and I'll get the event organizers to answer them for you. Here are more details about the workshop:
Could be a great opportunity to hone your skills for free. Again, if you have any questions fire away.
They also seem to have one running at Ryerson University. I might stop by.
Quick, dumb question: Casual dress-code?
The dress code for this and all similar events is "do you want a job?"
Will Tommy Wiseau be present? I hear they've already put his ideas into practice and he saves them bundles.
why isn't there anything like this going on in east coast!?
How come under the audience section it states: "all undergraduate and graduate students from UC Berkeley"?
I'm from the east coast but I saw they have a workshop coming up on September 17th, 2011 - September 18th, 2011 at Harvard. However, the audience is also listed as "this event is open to all undergraduate and graduate students from Harvard, MIT, Boston University, and Boston College."
Should I RSVP anyways?
WSO,
The dress code is business formal on the first day and casual on the second. I will be sending out a detailed email to all those who RSVP later in the day.
Thanks for the prompt reply.
Sign up for the Harvard one.http://libboston.eventbrite.com/?ref=ebtn

for the Harvard one I'm a rising freshman, how would it look on my part if i attend this event? just curious because i feel that it will be filled with older individuals and i'll be the only 18 year old there.

Lotin, You will fit perfectly in the workshop. Being a freshman, it gives you more time to work on the material we will teach you. So don't worry, you will learn a lot and be ahead of the game when you will be recruiting for internships next year and later in your junion/senior year.

All,
If you cannot make it to Berkeley this weekend but want to attend, try to sign up for one of our other workshops. Go to the calendar page on www.LeadersInIB.com for more information.
Note: sorry, but the Toronto workshop is fully sold out. I would love to have more people attend but the room capacity is 400 there. Next year we will try to get a bigger room.
Nice! Thanks Eddie.
For what its worth I did this workshop earlier this year and it was great. Sherjan is a smart guy and a great speaker. In many ways it was this very workshop that opened my eyes to the world of banking! I only wish I had had the opportunity to take it earlier in my school career.
Anyone can attend, just sign up. School names are only posted because the workshops are primarily promoted through campus channels.
I'll be at the Toronto event!
Will be at Toronto, WSOers should meet up or something after. XD
What do u guys do at this workshop? Is there a schedule/itinerary or something? Detailed description? Trying to decide whether or not to make the trip to boston
Cool. But anymore detail? Like whats one on one? and is it ok to go one day and not the other?
As for not attending the other day: this is not cool. Reason: the complete material is required to ace your interviews. Secondly, when you don't show up on day 2, you practically take away another potential candidate's spot. So try your best to show up.
if that's the case, my resume will look quite mediocre, simply because I only have little high schools jobs (ex best buy, sneaker store) and a good amount of ECs
not to be a pain in the ass guys, buy just let me know what you guys think.
shit man. If you know you want to be in banking, you're already ahead of the game. I didn't know I wanted to pursue it until the end of first semester of junior year.
Okay, great. Like the one on one idea. Thanks for the info suitedwolf
All, Don't worry about your resumes today. We will teach you our Leaders format on Day 1, and that is what you will submit on Day 2. It is kind of like a test to see who can follow instructions and actually produce a quality "client-ready" product. Most people claim to be experts at the Office suite, so this is your way of proving that you know your stuff. So, don't stress about who you are today, just come to the workshop with an open mind and lets see where it goes.
