The Full Monty

With the Energy Rodeo less than a week away, its a great time to give a NSFW intro style salute to our boy Monty09 and perhaps learn a little something bigger and better about life along the way.

I remember sitting down with Monty back in the last days of August and shooting the breeze. After adjusting to the fact that he looks like this in person, getting to know the man and hearing him speak was both fun and educational.

At that point the Energy Rodeo was still a nascent idea in its earliest brainstorming stages.

Flashing forward not even half of a year, both the event and our boy, have become front page news.

It isn't just a hundred plus monkeys screeching about it, the Houston Chronicle is taking notice, as well.

Starting with a genuine wish to help people out, it has mushroomed into a recruiting and networking event which has garnered the attention of a major metropolitan newspaper on their highest read day of the week.

By now, you guys have heard many of us mention the Energy Rodeo and why anyone with half-a-thought about working in the energy space should not miss it. That's not what this is about, this is not a plug or an advertisement.

This is about a guy who made a life for himself by the sweat of his brow and is now giving back to anyone willing to work as hard.

He did it without being a legacy, without having a daddy to open doors and without any of the advantages many say are needed to succeed in this industry.

He did it on his own...and now at a time when he can sit back and get paper cuts from counting his money, he is doing what very few in this industry ever think to...

He is helping others.

I mentioned around Christmas-time that we all get so excited about the holidays as if the last week of the year is the only time we are allowed to have a heart. That simply is not the case.

Our friend Monty09 is teaching us that the Christmas spirit can live all year round and in the hearts of all good men. Best of all, he is not preaching to us, but rather he is showing us the way.

I wish all of you guys could make it down to the Energy Rodeo in Houston this coming Saturday, January 29th. For those who cannot I wish you can all adopt Gene's attitude in life and his approach to dealing with people.

I know that if you do, you will easily achieve your hopes and dreams...and who knows...

You might even enjoy it, the same way he has.

UPDATE: It looks like Monty'sgoing viral

Not one hint of snark Midas? You must be going soft...

Really though, great article. See if you other monkeys can spot the ANT mention as well.

Agreed Happy. This is the first thing I've heard Midas say that's genuine about someone.

To everyone going, have fun. I am envious and want to be there but my plans keep changing. What was supposed to turn into an open weekend when plans changed two weeks ago has now turned into a weekend I am going to dread, but that's life, right? You play the hand your dealt I suppose. That said, Monty, you've been dealt a flush in Spades. Congrats and good luck running the Rodeo. We need a write-up on Sunday for those of us who couldn't be there.

Midas, this is indeed the first genuine thing I've seen come from you. Many Kudos to you

Monty is indeed a great guy and is always willing to help out in any way possible. A true visionary for future generations

So ready for this Friday as our the other members of my Investment Club. I'd give you a SB Monty....but I'm out. I'll send you our schools publication of us going whenever it hits the website. Next time I talk to you will be on Texas time!
