Wall Street Oasis Social Media Intern Needed (Remote)

I'm looking for one dedicated intern to assist me with managing our social media efforts.

Can you write a clever headline? Are you internet marketing savvy? Do you know what gets clicks? Are you on twitter and reddit every day? Have you managed social media accounts for a business before? Do you have an interest in finance and stay on top of the latest news and trends? Do you love WSO? If so, this internship is perfect for you.

I currently have interns helping with social media tasks but I want ONE experienced and talented person to person to help me manage all of our social media channels. Currently we're involved with: Facebook / Twitter / Linkedin / Youtube / Reddit / Google+ and we may consider expanding to other mediums if it is worth the effort and a good fit for us.

This is a serious internship. Previous experience managing the social media channels for a company/brand/organization is required. See inside the post for more info >>>

Time commitment:

  • Hours per week: ~10-15
  • 4-6 month minimum commitment (5+ months preferred)
  • 2-3 weeks allowed off for vacation, midterms/finals etc
  • The majority of the work can be done anytime during the week (evenings/weekends are fine)

Requirements / Experience required:

  • Writing posts for a company and/or organization's facebook & twitter accounts
  • Knowledge of what works and what doesn't. What types of posts get clicks? What buzzwords/hashtags do you add to a certain post?
  • Strong writing skills for the internet audience. Can you write a headline that gets attention?
  • Up to date on all the latest social media trends
  • Basic experience with google analytics and tracking referral traffic is a plus (otherwise I can teach this quickly)
  • Experience managing a youtube channel is a plus
  • Familiarity with Reddit
  • Familiarity with WSO and our demographic
  • Up to date with the latest finance/wall street news and trends
  • Native English speaker

Some of the tasks you will be working on:

  • Daily posts via our social media platform (bufferapp.com) to our social media sites (these can be scheduled out in the future)
  • Weekly reports to Patrick and me regarding our referral traffic (via google analytics)
  • Helping manage our other interns who are currently helping with our social media
  • Working with Patrick and me to improve our overall social media strategy
  • More tasks will be described in the interview process

To apply, email me (Andy at wallstreetoasis.com) the following:

  1. Your resume
  2. Your experience with social media, please include links to previous projects/sites you have worked on and links to your personal (public) accounts (twitter, instagram, youtube channel, reddit, etc)
  3. A couple sentences describing yourself, your current situation, why you are a good fit for this internship and why you want to do this internship
  4. Important: Pick three posts from the WSO frontpage (you can go back several pages) and write up a sample facebook post (with an image) and tweet for each one
  5. A confirmation you meet all the above requirements
  6. If I like your application I will respond back with a small test project and more info

The internship is unpaid, but here are some of the benefits you will receive during and after successful completion of your internship:

  • 6 free WSO guides, ~$180 total value (3 given halfway during internship, the other 3 at the end of the internship) - this does not include the new Private Equity Prep Pack nor WSP modeling packages
  • Free 3 month video library access, $60 value (given at end of internship), //www.wallstreetoasis.com/wall-street-videos
  • Free 1-year job board access, $99 value (you can delay the access for up to one year)
  • Access to the WSO Company Database and Compensation report (this is free, but requires 3 entries to gain access. Younger students may not have this information yet)
  • Letter of recommendation from me + up to two background or reference checks you need filled out. If you do a great job I will write you the best recommendation letter you have ever received
  • Intangibles: A) Many interns have used this internship as a conversation starter in theirr interviews. B) Networking with previous interns: there is a linkedin group of former interns and campus reps who now work in Finance that would be happy to speak with you.

Additional benefits:

  • Finance: You will have a ton of exposure to our content online finance blogs/articles/news/authors/contacts etc.
  • Social media: you will have considerable hands-on / behind the scenes to our social media efforts and will leave the internship with a VERY strong knowledge of how things work
  • You will be working directly with me and I will be able to teach / mentor what I know
  • I've had several internships in the past, so I know how it is and I've tried to design this internship to be as beneficial for you as possible.

Additional info from Patrick:

Putting "Wall Street Oasis" on your resume when you are trying to break into Wall Street is a way to demonstrate an interest in finance. Even if it is just 1-2 bullets -- showing some relevant experience is important.

It is a great internship option to those that are having trouble breaking into a bank and/or want to supplement what they are already doing to make themselves more competitive. For many of our previous interns, the experience has helped them tremendously. We want to make sure you also gain a lot from the internship which is why we offer so many perks.

I am willing to serve as a personal reference for the interns/reps that show a dedication to WSO and go above and beyond. Whether that is an introduction over LinkedIn or some advice over e-mail, I like to help our best interns to make sure they are headed in the right direction and have a great shot at landing their dream job."
