WSO: Behind the Scenes
Greetings guys,
So Eddie and I just wrapped up another episode of NSFW and I hope you enjoy it. This creates the perfect segue into something that's been on my mind lately.
I want to take this quick snippet of your Saturday to point out something that many of you already know, but some may not have stopped to think about.
Whether it's the nature of our collective ambitions, a shared career interest or simply a lack of social skills and the inability to fully involve from our primate ancestors, we are part of a great and unique community here at Wall Street Oasis.
Most of you guys know this and return for more than the banter and career chat. This message, however, goes out to the lurkers and the chimps who examine more than they interact.
You are making a mistake. Yes, the career guides are stellar and naturally the certified users really know their stuff. But there are also some great relationships and connections available beyond the forum topics. You miss out on a lot in life when you underestimate what you have readily available.
In the next NSFW episode, you Uncle Eddie's going to give you guys some heavy food for thought about your future careers on Wall Street. Many of you on this site are the BSDs of tomorrow. One of you will be the next Lloyd...the next PTJ...you never know who you're conversing with on this site and that is the best part...
The not-so-top secret that I am happy to let out of the bag is that for the true value investor (the one who invests in himself) there is no better place to network than here.
Think about it...
That's it for today, monkeys.
Enjoy your Saturday.
SB
Spot on, 100% true. I know a good amount of users in the real world and everyone has thoroughly impressed me. This site is full of professionals as well as motivated and hungry students. Anyone that discounts the networking and relationship aspect of this site is making a big mistake.
Thanks for posting about this Midas!
I've been saying this for a while. I really wish everyone wasn't so super cautious about their identity, but I understand why most, including myself are.

Congratulations to Blastoise on evolving. Enjoy your new cannons
PM Shorttheworld - he was setting up a NYC event. Great guy also. Depending on the scheduling I would come to NYC for an event.
If anyone's interested in tearing it up in the Big Easy, I'll be there next month. Hit me up and we'll put something together.
Serious business, though, guys. Bring your "A" game. When I go NOLA, I go BIG.
I actually owe some people here drinks, monty and Anthony especially. If it gets expensive though I'm making a Houdini. Haha.
Speaking of NYC meet ups, poker group's planning on one soon maybe you guys are up for it.
I won't be making it though :(
eddie...give me dates and I will be there..... first round on me
So much love. So much fraternité. It's lovely.
Week after December cfa
after a night of abusing hot chicks, playing late 80's arcade games with teenagers, stealing fresh baked pizzas and damn near gassing up my local police officer to engage in pooch punting...the responses to this thread are the craziest thing i've experienced in a minute...keep it moving boys...
God damnit, I'd love to be at the NYC event, but I think I'm going to be in Dubai.
It'd actually be nice to start putting names and faces together.
And yes, Tommy Tutone for the win, although I can't think of the song without having the cover version stuck in my head.
As to being cautious, I think the certification helps, but everyone here kinda understands the whole no one wants to admit where they work for fear of the overlords coming back to bite them on the ass. I can't think of how many firms have policies in you can get in trouble for mentioning where you work and it being used to shed a bad light on you and your firm. Plus, there's the whole misrepresentation issue and the potential fraud that comes with it. it's just a laundry list of things to worry about despite the fact that we are all trying to help each other out.
Oh, and Midas, how was Philly. Did you get in trouble with the Guy Fawkes mask?
I don´t mean to put an end this this positivity party but what if one of us is not here for merely getting into bbs or and any other financial firm for that matter. Taking CFA & studying about pitch books could be our way of atypically learning about future ventures of our own(ala george soros). Or maybe its that sadistic paranoia trait in many of us!
@Frieds
got cancelled last minute, would have been yesterday's topic had it gone down...hopefully, we'll do it at some point
@Inept Speculator
good call, actually i am from the government and i am here to help;)
Midas, came back drunk from a beer festival and started reading through this... end result, enjoy! http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/aspirations
