Why I Quit My Job (a.k.a. "Regrets of Working")
Post By @Alistair-Clark"

I think it's entirely possible to live a life free of regret while working an insane finance job — it just takes a little honesty, planning, and effort.

Below are two activities that helped me take control of my life.
1. Be honest about the current state of your life, and
2. Build systems to protect what's important in life.

The weak post-MBA finance job market
Post By @MBAGrad2015"

What's going on here? I will graduate soon from a M7 b-school, and aside from banking, the finance job market has been horrendous. OCR was mostly by banks and some long-only mutual funds. The people who wanted banking got it, but aside from that, there were very few job postings. A ton of my classmates gunning for IM, PE, HF, AM, are still looking.

AMA Discretionary Hedge Fund Trader
Post By @derivstrading"

I am a discretionary trader at a large hedge fund, focusing on credit and convertibles. Previously, I have traded equity derivatives on the sell side. Feel free to ask me anything besides compensation.

What have you had to suck up and endure at work?

Over-Hyped
Post By @DaBBzMan"

I had ~5 total days out of the office in 2015. Now. many consider that "normal" but I assure you it isnt. Those in banking, for whatever reason, always oversell how busy they are.

One other thing to point out that I get a kick out of is this "top bucket kids never make mistakes." I've turned through deal models with errors. A buddy called me to tell me he had a deck of ours for something they were doing and that the the terminal year wasn't normalized. Easy stuff slips through the cracks all the time. Hanging footnotes, mislabeled shiz, etc happens to everyone.
