Must show that you are willing to sell and go out and do things like cold call, dive into your network and see who will meet with you - the whole idea is selling them on why Aflac is a better place too be. Some other questions are related to why Aflac, why the position, why this location and even whats your network like

Interview
I first got a phone call from the HR discussing the role in this capital modeling team, and basically just to see if I am a good fit. Then I scheduled a phone interview with three managers from the team to talk about this position and they asked about my knowledge about risk management and math modeling.
Interview Questions
What do I know about actuary and why do I want to go into this industry.

Where do you see yourself in five years, in terms of location. They asked this question because their headquarter is located in a relatively small city, and they want to see if I can adjust well there. So they were wondering if I prefer big city or small town.

Another question came up is about modeling. Since I mentioned that I want to see how to apply the models in real life and some models seem too ideal, so they asked me to give some specific examples.

Background Check
Interview
Not totally positive about the background check. Started with an email to come out for a first round interview. Pretty basic stuff, knowing about Aflac and being able to shout out a couple specific points is a plus. Walk me through your resume...why aflac...why insurance...etc. A lot of it is education, them telling you why you want to do insurance; they make some compelling points. At the end said to reach out to the assistant to set up a second round interview. Second round was more specific, with points about role and organization structure. Ended up saying I would start about a month later.
Interview Questions
Tell me what you know about Aflac/Insurance. I knew a lot about Aflac, I had gone on their website and read a lot of their most recent annual report. Knowing that they invest a significant amount of earnings in Japan is a plus, they were impressed. Understanding commission structure is a plus as well.
Why do you think you'd be a good fit for this position? Just have to try to explain that your self motivated and sales oriented. That you're a good talker and networker, and you're confident that you could succeed in a role with significant responsibility.

Interview
The phone interview was conducted with HR. Proficiency in Excel was checked by asking if I knew various functions (VLOOKUP, Nested IFs, etc.), followed by situational questions (i.e, what's a time you were a member of a team that experienced conflict and had to diffuse the situation?). The 1-on-1 interview was highly technical, with questions such as "how can currency rates change in the absence of monetary/federal policy?" and "how would interest rates/inflation affect the debt and equity markets?" Relevant coursework was also brought into play; I had economics classes listed on my resume, and I was asked basic questions like "how would a price ceiling affect a simple D/S graph?"

The guy just sits you down in a room and makes you wait for a while. There are plenty of other naive college kids from schools in the surrounding area also coming in and out of the office for interviews. After the interviewer finally gets around to you, he comes in and talks your head off about how great selling insurance has been for him and all of the great skills he has gotten from it. They try to make you think that you should become an intern, even though it is only commission based salary. Definitely a crapshoot.
