ArcTern Ventures (formerly the MaRS Cleantech Fund) provides early-stage capital to companies developing breakthrough ideas in the cleantech sector. The Fund has developed a unique early-stage investment model through its partnership with MaRS.

MaRS is a globally recognised innovation centre located in the heart of Toronto’s technology community, with a mandate to accelerate Canadian technology companies. Comprising 1.5 million sq ft, MaRS has served over 1,200 companies since its launch in 2006. MaRS Cleantech is one of three core technology Practices, along with Life Sciences and Information, Communication & Entertainment. MaRS Cleantech has emerged as globally leading cleantech incubation and commercialization hub.

The core Practice provides advice, mentorship and connections for cleantech entrepreneurs building companies with a strong core of intellectual property. This provides our primary source of deal flow and ongoing market support. The MaRS Cleantech Practice has served several hundred clients, of which a select portion can be classified as strong investment opportunities.
