What did the interview consist of?
Phone Interview
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
It was a very vanilla application process. Apply online Cover Letter, Resume. The one thing that was different is that they wanted a short essay on a Ralph Waldo Emerson quote. (less than 200 words)
"'What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.' – Emerson. "
It was pretty interesting, I responded pretty "creatively" talking about the importance in modern day society. It was a pretty funny question so I tried to answer in an entertaining way.
I got a phone interview. They actually emailed me a day before they wanted me to interview, which was funny.
The interview itself was very vanilla but it was my first time interviewing for a finance interview, so I probably blew what was a pretty easy interview.
The person interviewing me seemed pretty tired and it wasn't the HR coordinator.
Very basic questions why Barclays why investment banking etc.
Told me to wait a few days wasn't selected I recognize that it was due to my nervousness, but that was my process.
