Lot's of vague questions about expected margin profiles and investment considerations in obscure industries (i.e. mining vs. manufacturing, etc.). Paper LBO with a very quick time frame and live tweaking afterwards (i.e. how does the return change (in both MOM and IRR) if you tweak X assumption?).

Three steps: case study (RE acquisition), skype interview, in-person interview. Case study was a typical PE real estate acquisition with no waterfall analysis.
Interview Questions
What are some deals you worked on? What was your role on these deals? The questions weren't hard per-say but you needed to know your details on the deals. There were a lot of follow-up questions on the deals and specific questions relating to deal details. I was asked what specific challenges were faced on this deal compared to others and why I chose to speak about this specific deal. The interview consisted of three individuals, one of which was an in-house recruiter. This person asked more behavioral questions.

The internship was actually with a company called Axletech but the internship included working with Carlyle Group to create a business model so they can buy axletech out. Had a phone interview, was told they would get back to me soon. Was granted another interview but decided not to move forward.
Interview Questions
Nothing unexpected, just normal tell me about yourself and some behavioral questions. The cool thing about the internship and why it is appropriate for this website is the inernship was to create a business model for Carlyle Group, because they were being bought out.
