Interview
Applied online in October/November. Took a few weeks to hear back. Started off with an online assessment similar to other companies before moving to a first round/ screening interview with HR. Second round consisted of a skills test/presentation where you work on a case (cold calling companies) and presenting your findings at the end. The case part will probably illustrate to both you and them whether this role is a good fit given that CRC focuses a lot on channel research although they don't do a lot of cold calls in real life.

Following the second round would have likely been a superday.
Interview Questions
The case study was most likely the most difficult "question" asked. You were asked to reach out to certain retail stores and talk to whoever you could to gather information.

Interview
Submitted application on their website after attending a career event. A week later I was asked to schedule a thirty minute minute phone screen. The phone screen was very typical. walk me through your resume. Why CRC. Why equity research. The next day I was asked to schedule a two and a half hour channel check assessment. The assessment consisted of them sending me a case telling me to call a retail chains stores to try and gain some insights, and after two hours I would present my findings. The presentation was just a thirty minute conversation with an associate, they asked how I approached it, what I found, and how I would rate myself.

Nothing was difficult or unexpected it was entirely base on your resume and story, so just have that nailed down.

Interview
The process starts with a comprehensive IQ/personality assessment which took about 2 hours. One week later, I was invited to do a 1 on 1 phone interview with the hiring manager. After 5 or 6 days, they reached out to ask me to do what they call channel research. This is essentially cold calling branches of a company in an attempt to gain information on revenue and demand trends. After 2 hours of this, you follow-up with an associate via Skype to describe what you did, what information you were able to dig up, etc. That project serves as the 2nd interview. I did not proceed to the 3rd and final in-person round, but it was described to me as an all day super day consisting of roughly 12 interviews and a dinner.
Interview Questions
The channel research project was challenging because the financial figures of privately held companies are proprietary. Unless you have a direct line to corporate, you cannot get financial information on that company. So, the question they wanted to know was: how you were able to ascertain financial information from the branches of a private company? The idea here is to see if you are crafty enough to come up with a method that yielded positive results. It is a very unconventional project for an interview, but the philosophy is that it shows them how you think on your feet.

The interview process consists of 1). first round phone interview 2). channel research project 3). onsite interview with around 6 people and also a presentation/ stock pitch to senior management.
Interview Questions
The company asked for an Apple stock pitch. You will be grilled on both the qualitative and quantitative info you put on your stock pitch. Questions can be intense and don't try to bs your way if you don't know an answer to a questions since they cover the stock and most likely know the answer to the question they are asking. Also don't be adamant about defending your thesis, you are judged more on the process. Overall, the pitch shouldnt be too difficult if you are sufficiently prepared and don't include information that you dont want to be grilled on.

Started with a quick test on simple mathematics, and SAT type word association games. I believe it was 170 multiple choice questions. Quite easy. Leads to a phone interview before a superday later in the year.
Interview Questions
The unexpected part was the word questions. I did not really see how an SAT vocabulary would be applicable.

Applied online through LinkedIn and got a first round interview with the head of HR. The first round interview lasted about 30 minutes and was full of behavioral questions. After that, you speak on the phone with the comapny's CEO, which was intimidating. He asks you weird questions like "How are you different from your siblings?" and stuff like that. That interview only lasted 15 minutes. I got an email a week after saying I had to go up to their offices and get lunch with some associates. Four associates took me out to lunch and asked me why I wanted to work in Equity Research and CRC in general. It was very casual and we talked about the markets, sports, etc. After the lunch I waited two weeks and never heard back. I subsequently emailed the head of HR three times and the woman who coordinated my lunch and never heard back. The fourth time I emailed, I got no direct response from her but an automated message saying I hadn't gotten the position. The lack of communication from their part was extremely frustrating.
Interview Questions
"How are you different from your siblings?"

-My response: I talked about my two younger siblings and how they each were athletic and had different mindsets. Also talked about how they wanted to do engineering and I wanted to do finance. The CEO asked me this and he seemed satisfied with my answer.
"How do you value a private company?"

-My response: I had known that this question may come up so I did some research beforehand. Essentially what you want to say is something along the lines of a comps analysis. Compare the sizes of the companies, employees and markets they're involved in.

Screening for interviews conducted with resumes and I was invited to an on campus presentation/dinner about how their company researches. Invited to an interview, and I declined the second interview in Cleveland.
Interview Questions
What are some of the groups you have been involved with on campus?

This question was part of the behavioral interview and it led to further questions about how I was challenged specifically in the groups I was involved with on campus.
What are some of the challenges you have faced in your involvement, and what have you done to work to solve these challenges?
