M&A Intern
General Interview Information
Interview Details
I had networked with alumni who had referred me for the job. I had a one on one interview, then two interviews with two interviewers each time.
The interviews were the most painful I have had to go through on the sell-side. The interviewers were surprisingly nasty, nagging me and scolding me as if I were on trial instead of sitting in an interview. I have had interviews at most other BB banks so I can definitely compare.
There were a lot of technical questions - although I pointed out that I came from a non-finance background. I remember a lot of useless questions related to "why Goldman Sachs and not [Other BB] where you've had an offer ?", which I answered using the usual bullshit (league tables / culture / people) but the question kept coming up in a horribly cranky way.
Definitely need a lot of improvement over that.
