Background Check
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
An alumni requested resumes through my schools undergraduate advising office. I also applied through Morgan Stanley's website. Either way I was granted an initial phone interview. For the phone interview I was contacted by a Vice President in Fixed Income. The interview was brief (approx 10 - 15 minutes). I was asked basic questions about my interest in the markets, in finance, and about my prior work experiences. Approximately one month later I was called to schedule a superday interview. They company booked a train ticket for me for the interview. The interview was done at MS's headquarters where I had 4 one on one interviews in a row. I interviewed with a range of people including Vice Presidents and executive directors. Everyone was friendly and very passionate about their work. I was treated with respect and challenged with market oriented questions. As for advice, I prepared heavily for my superday. One thing I found very helpful was setting up time to discuss current market events with professors. This allowed me to discuss current events and their influence on specific markets.
