What did the interview consist of?
1 on 1 Interview
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Only interview process I've been through that I felt was totally unprofessional. Found out about PNC's entry level program after speaking with a recruiter at my university's career fair. Applied on university's career center website and was invited to on campus interviews. Listing on the career website was a very general, boiler plate style description and described on first round interviews would be used to determine what of three divisions interviewees would be pushed to (capital markets, treasury management, or corporate banking.) Capital markets was described as being an "investment banking analyst" role, which I was interested in.

Upon arriving at my university's interview suites I was escorted to my interview room where I met my interviewer. From the beginning she was pretty rude, something I had yet to experience in an interview. First she informed me that they weren't hiring for the treasury management position (I didn't care because I wasn't interested in that, but they had stated it was open on the online listing so I would have been f*cked if I had been).I then told my story/career interests from the perspective of someone interested in IBD. After going through that, the interviewer stated "we don't do that kind of business at PNC." When I mentioned that the listing on our career website described Cap Markets as being an i-banking analyst role, she laughed and said "well it's not" and proceed to explain it as more of a sales and trading role. I remained polite the rest of the interview and played along as she tried to tell me that I would be better for corporate banking, but ultimately got a rejection. I know for a fact that a lot of other kid's at my b-school had the same experience (thinking it was i-banking only to find out it wasn't) and most people gunning for the cap markets program didn't get invited back. PNC = Punks, Nincompoops, and Cretins.
