I was told about the job by a contact in my network. I was skeptical of the position being available because I was told by a PwC contact that no hiring was going on, but it turned out to be true. In the end, I learned that no one off the street would've been able to get the job - it was going to be filled via relationship. In fact, I only know one recent hire who applied on the web site and got an interview. I had one initial interview with a higher-up that went well and that person sponsored me when I met with 3 others. Each time, the interviewer had already made up their mind about me before I spoke with them. There was no point to the interviews, really, except for the sake of checking boxes. Chemistry seemed to matter the most. My personality happened to be something that worked in the situation. Since being inside the firm, I've confirmed that relationships matter most.
