Equity Research Analyst

This was sort of an off-cycle hire. Equity research typically hires during the typical recruiting season and fills in the new hires into positions that need to be filled once June/July roles around, but I applied for a spot on a specific team (prior analyst left).

The process started with a resume submission online, but I had interacted with the company before (applied and did not get an internship the year before and the full-time in cycle position during my senior year). I was contacted by someone in the recruiting department for a very basic fit interview. Typical walk me through your resume-type questions.

Roughly 1-2 weeks later, I was asked to come to the office. At that time, I interviewed with 4 senior analysts that were not on the team I was applying for. I also took a 2 tests -- 1 writing and 1 analytical. The interview questions ranged from mathematical to brain teasers, but were generally focused on fit.

The final stage came about one week later when I interviewed for about an hour with the 2 specific people on my team -- the senior and the associate. This started off fairly mathematical (just due to my boss' mathematical mindset), but it was pretty much all fit-based (considering I would be working with these 2 guys).

I was notified back within a week and accepted the offer immediately.
