Group Interview
Interview
The Manager for the Group interviewed me first via email. He wanted to find out about my background, get my resume, current compensation, etc. After I passed muster, then I was invited in to speak to him. I interviewed with the MLP Fund Group Manager, then was passed to the Portfolio Manager, and then finally to the MLP Analyst Team for a group interview. If I had successfully passed those interviews, then I would have done a skills interview, then negotiate salary and comp.
Interview Questions
They wanted to hear an investment pitch. I gave a pitch on a retail firm, outside the group space simply because it was assumed I wasn't an expert at MLP analysis yet. They broke down my analysis on the spot, asking me various questions of whether or not I believed it was sustainable and walking through my assumptions.
The Fund Manager was interested in my background and how I came through my education; my progression professionally.
The Portfolio Manager wanted me to apply my experience to their fund, describing how my experience provided a competitive edge/insight to their team.
