Interview Details

What did the interview consist of?
1 on 1 Interview
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
UBS came to campus in the fall, and did an info session which I missed. I still received a first round interview. After UBS notified me that I had received a first round interview, they had an analyst call me to see if I had any questions. The first round was with an associate who was also an alum of my school, and an HR guy, who was an alum of my school. The two were the friendliest people that I met in the entire process. After the first round, I received a call that they would be inviting me back the next day, and that I was invited to dinner that night at a very nice restaurant in the area. At the dinner, I had a chance to meet all of the seniors from my school who had accepted offers to return to UBS, as well as the interviewers for the next day, and assorted other bankers who were alums of my school.

The next morning, I had two 30-minute interviews: one with a director, and another with the COO of the investment bank. I had sat next to the director at dinner, and joked with him on a few different subjects. This gave me an advantage going into the interview, because I imagine he may have seemed very stiff to others. However, I knew he was a normal guy with a sense of humor after the interviews. The interviews went very well, and my second one with the COO went way over time. He was a family man, loved to talk about his kids, and was very funny and fun to speak with. The interviews at UBS were more like a good, challenging conversation. I was thoroughly impressed. I received a call from the HR guy and associate that I had interviewed with first, telling me that I got the offer, later that night at around 6:30.
