I would like to be a summer analyst in a major European city like London, Paris, or Geneva.
How would I go about getting an internship abroad with an I-banking firm, possibly Goldman Sachs, UBS, Citigroup, BNP Paribas, ABN Ambro, etc.?

Hi. I've heard that for many careers being skilled at multiple languages is a big plus. I'd imagine for i-bankign, with more work in emerging markets, knowling languages would be a plus. I'm currently working in North America on a transfer from our London office. Over there, I got a direct promote to Associate (M&A) after 2.5 yrs of pain. Life as an Associate is much better - average around 50-60 hours a week...and the occasional weekend appearance.

I understand that many I-banking analysts leave for other opportunities after two years as an analyst. I also understand that in many cases, they do not want to deal with the unbelievable hours and stress. Most of what I hear is that these analysts leave for private equity or hedge funds....
