Healthcare focused VC/PE shops are natural stepping stones. This is just my personal experience, but I noticed a number of Healthcare folks going into real estate PE shops. If you haven't heard it yet, Philip Falcone borrowed against his Caribbean Island villa and other RE assets a substantial amount taking Michael Jackson's road. I think he's paying about 7% on a 90% LTV.
Isn't that a nice way out if you are cash-strapped ?

I have been thinking a lot lately about what it is going to take (sacrifice wise) over the next 20-30 years to really make it in this business. Not a pessimistic thing, just really trying to plan my life and how it is going to look (mediocrity in my career really is not an option).
