just got a call from HR @ my BB, alerting me that my base salary for 2009 (when I will start) will now be 70k, not the 60k contract I signed. They told me all analysts will receive this pay raise.

Would working at an exchange be a good place to start for someone wanting to go into trading. Suppose I buy a call option on Company X, and if Company X gets acquired by Company Y, what happens to my call?
If it's a cash deal, I'd suppose I have to exercise it straight away rite, since there would be no stock left for me to call after the merger.

Whoever said China, the largest communist country in the world, has a free-er market than the US was dead on. The last time the NYSE banned short-selling, they had to repeal it two days after because it was artificially raising prices (no fucking way!).
