HAHAHAHA!!! Brilliant!
I turned down GS tech a few years ago. I interviewed with some folks in analytics at another firm who seemed really passionate about their work. When I got to GS, my interviewers looked tired, frazzled, and disinterested in programming and product pricing.
I took the other offer and it was probably one of the best decisions I've made in my career.
That's because your offer was GS Tech, aka. Back office. In that sense, yes turning down tech/ops isn't a big deal. You would be crazy not to accept a GS front office role. (unless it's a PE buy-side offer)
GS isn't the be all and end all. I can't believe you're so narrowminded as to say someone would be crazy to decline a front office GS role. I didn't even apply to GS when I was a senior in college; I had no interest in working 90+ hour weeks doing menial bitch work.
i really think you ride GS harder than just about anyone else on these forums
I think the Janitorial Back Office Division at Goldman Sachs is top notch.
I heard the superday was brutal- lots of brainteasers.
Obvi go with GS Tech Support. Sure it might not be IBD, but you'll be working in a culture of excellence.
I hope this is a joke, your that Lloyd has a gun to your head.
OMG YOU DIDN't APPLY TO GS CUZ YOU COULDN'T HANDLE 90 HOUR WEEKS OMG THAT MUST MEAN GS SUX! WELL U KNW WHAT, I DDNT APPLY HARVARD CUZ I THOUGHT THE IVY LEAGUE WAS OVERRATED. BASED ON UR REASONING DOES THAT MEAN HARVARD SUX??
GS doesn't suck. It is just a company. Some people don't want to work there, some do. Why does GS make everyone so upset. You would think a person who didn't want to work at GS insulted someone's mother with the reactions people have. It is Goldman Sachs....RELAX. Some people don't have them on a pedestal.
hey do you know of good exit ops for goldman sachs tech support? i have the offer for kuala lumpur and jakarta office which is better? i am wanting to make transfer to bangalore in 2 years... it is possible?!? it is good for private equities??
uh oh i mean privates equity..
OMG YOU SHOULD CHOOSE GOLDMAN. THE GOLDMAN NAME TRUMPS EVERYTHING ELSE.
ITS ABOUT PRESTIGE.
GS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> MS BY A LONG MILE.
TAKE THE GS OFFER!
Wasn't one of these threads enough?
machinegunfunk...you should start a third thread on this, they're quite insightful
I'd generally think GS TMT, MS M&A, GS FIG/Top Grps, MS FIG/Telecom, BB M&A Shops.
