3rd year Canadian student looking for advice on networking for IB roles

A little bit about me:

  • 3rd year Finance major at a semi-target school in Canada with a 3.7 cumulative GPA
  • Worked in public and corporate accounting over 2 co-op terms; 3 more terms left
  • Involved in the university’s finance and investment club (separate entities) as an equity research analyst
  • Held leadership roles in cultural clubs, student associations, etc.
  • Able to portray a solid interest through self-written initiating coverage report and completion of financial modelling courses (sorry if this sounds weird, don’t know how else to put it)

I am currently networking mainly with analysts from BMO (got informational interviews with 7 people so far). I have done my research on BMO and I feel that their culture and reputation is an ideal fit for me, plus they hire a decent amount of analysts from my school. I am mainly looking for advice on the following:
- Following up on informational interviews
- Any other extra-curricular activities I should look towards
- Contacting associates, MDs, and/or VPs
- Further increasing my chances of getting an interview

Best I’ve done so far was get an interview from a Big 4’s M&A arm but that was before I had any involvement in finance-related extra-curricular activities.

I would really really appreciate any feedback I can get at this stage since recruitment for Fall 2017 starts in May/June and I want to ramp up by game to secure an interview.

Cheers!

Should've clarified. My mistake. By decent I mean that for one co-op term, it hires 3 to 4 people. And there are several alumni from my school that are working there full-time. It's more than what other banks hire.
