A la Recherche du Temps Perdu
So: this has probably been posted somewhere else a couple of times, or a thousand times, but I have no clue how to find it.
I have traded for a few years pro se and made all the usual mistakes. Haven't counted losses in my accounts but I think I lost over 20K or so. That, however, is not the focus here because I still see the opportunity.
My question is: where/how to get real trader education/experience if you want to improve. As far as I see, most people would say 'if you want to be a trader get a finance degree or MBA', but as part of my masters (I'm an attorney) I've done courses at a top 10 B-school and based on what I saw, a very small part of the program is in fact relevant. People probably choose B-schools for the interviews, but I think learning to trade profitably would get you better interviews, no?
In one sentence: I am trying to understand how the training\induction system is set up in this industry, and I don't want to believe there's no logic in how it is set up and people do need to get quasi-relevant degrees to get their foot in the door.
Any views will be received with gratitude.
Man, I was hoping this was going to be about be Proust...
I'd rather talk about Proust.
I can tell you that the conservative madeleine-heavy portfolio pays off for the hungry investor.
