A Question about an Full-Time IB Offer ???
I just finished my internship with a BB I-Bank this Summer and was fortunate enough to receive a full-time offer for Fall 2010. :-) This was great news until I got my offer letter, and saw that the start date for the program is about 2.5 weeks before my graduation. As my name suggests I am graduating a year early, but in order to finish up a few electives and get some international experience I am studying abroad during Summer 2010 and will receive my degree the first week of August.
Has anyone had (or know anyone who has had) a similar experience, graduating slightly off cycle? Are their any opinions on whether my offer will still stand / what if anything I can and/or should do?
Thanks.
it's a pretty unique situation-- i would talk to HR of your bank about it. i dont think anyone here has a legit answer..
This really shouldn't be a problem for the bank. It's a unique situation, but they obviously like you enough to have extended an offer. I would be very surprised if they weren't able or willing to accommodate you.
Reach out to your hiring manager. Tell him/her what your situation is. Tell them you're super-excited about joining the firm and intend to accept the offer. Most of these firms want people to delay start dates. Ask the hiring manager for his/her advice about how to handle it. This is the person who ultimately said we want this person to work with us. They will probably call the recruiting manager and tell you to do so as well. I don't think this is a big deal. 2.5 weeks is not long at all.
