Accounting Tie-In
I'm an accounting student at a mediocre school. Recently an opening for a summer internship at a boutique strategy consulting firm was posted on our OCR site. Consulting has a strange appeal to me that even I can't quite figure out, there's a lot about the job that sounds like it would be horrible for me. At the same time, I'm still very interested. I think a summer spent working in the field would really help me figure out if it's a decent option long-term, and the Big 4 weren't biting.
I know the MAcc programs I'm applying to place a non-negligible number of grads in consulting, and was wondering if anybody knew a good way to make a case for a consulting application as an accountant. I'm not sure I see the skills connection.
Stop selling yourself short. Your not even an accountant. Your an accounting student. Plenty of kids I went to school went on to the masters of accounting program and ended up at places like Deloitte Consulting. You need to specify what kind of consulting you want to go into and then we can help tie that to your education. Saying you want to go into consulting is way too general. (Example consulting fields: ERP, Strategy, HR, stripper, etc)
