Acronyms
We need a spot on this forum to look up acronyms. I have no idea what many of these stand for. In fact, within the last five minutes I saw SA and IBD. What are these? Senior Analyst and Investment Banking Division?

BoD called a GEM. What is GEM? I think it's a shareholders meeting but does anyone know what exactly GEM stands for?
PM = portfolio manager would make more sense given the context of wso.
Not sure what they are referring to. I was under the impression that GEM stood for Global Emerging Markets.
looks like a typo. extraordinary general meeting?
E = Equityholders? (though that should be two separate words...) General Equityholders' Meeting?
Need some acronym help... (Originally Posted: 03/23/2010)
Hi, I'm new to the site and very confused by several of the acronyms. I'm trying to read as much as possible, but some of the forum jargon is over my head. Is there any way y'all could post a dictionary/acronym index for the WSO newbies out there?
Thanks a ton. Love the site as well
Mike
For a newbie might I suggest the search function, a wonderful tool that answers many questions prevsiously thought unasked.

Use the search function Michael.
Weird. I specifically searched "acronym" earlier and nothing meaningful turned up. However, "Acronyms" yields the aforementioned topic. I didn't think the search bar would be so specific. 'Preciate the help.

Hey everyone, I'm a 1st year EE (electrical engineering major) at UT with hopes of going into investment banking in the near future. I find most of the info on this site to be very insightful as well as informational, but there are more acronyms used here than one would hear in a hospital emergency room. Where can I go to learn this banking vernacular? Thanks
