I will be undergoing a trading summer internship at a Boutique on Tuesday.
The owners already told me that they have never hired any interns before and that I shouldn't expect any structured internship program. They said they wanted me to come in and offer a fresh perspective as the other traders are very experienced and thus may have gotten acustomed to the standard way of doing things. They also said that I have to find my own way around to learn and see how I can further value add. Any tips?

It will be frustrating, but at least it will be a solid point on your resume.
It's all about the attitude.
It's all about the attitude. Show them that you want to be there. Become a sponge soaking up knowledge and ask for feedback when you make mistakes/complete a task.
I had a similar situation for a 6 month part time internship and got to become good friends with everyone at the firm by having a can-do attitude and staying late to get the job done.

You're in a potentially awesome situation, dude. You will get what you put in - learn as much as possible from everyone around you and PARTICIPATE as much as you can. I think you should prevent yourself from being "the intern" as much as possible and integrate yourself to the team. Here, a "fresh perspective" may just mean "someone who isn't afraid of getting fired."
