Advice needed- from someone with a math background
I'm graduating from a Masters in Mathematical Finance at a school in Canada, my undergrad background is in math.
Before I started the program, I was set on becoming a quant (either in risk or on a trade floor). However, after passing through the program and doing an internship in a RM role, it's clear that becoming a quant is not for me. I do not see myself programming constantly all day, and being a Compsci/math bubble. I need to see a business side to my work, I've done Level I CFA and I liked the material because it was so much more applicable than that I learned in my Master's. AFAIK I see 2 paths in front of me:
1) Data analytics -growing area in Canada. Requires more a statistical background, may end up working with marketing/credit risk lines of businesses doing statistical modelling to make decisions for the company.
2) Work in a quant stream for a couple years then do an MBA from a good school, and then going into consulting or S/T.
Can you guys give me a reality check if this is correct thinking or suggest something else?
