Advice- Summer Internship
Hi everyone,
I am a college sophomore at columbia. I have offers from Morgan Stanley Finance & HSBC Sales & Trading. My goal is to go in Goldman or Morgan Stanley Sales & Trading next year internship. Which one of these would better prepare me for my goals? How good is HSBC Sales & Trading?
Thanks
Morgan Stanley Finance sounds like a middle/back office role that you could get from a state school in South Dakota. Maybe I'm mistaken but if I'm correct then you should definitely take HSBC S&T. It isn't difficult to get into S&T at a BB like MS or GS after doing S&T at a shop like HSBC. Also don't write off JPM. As for how good HSBC S&T is, I have no idea but you'll learn a lot (most importantly whether or not you're actually cut out to be a sales person or trader) and it will be a great thing to have on your resume as a junior.
Also maybe redact the name of your school. Not sure why but in general people don't post the specific school or firm they're at so they aren't identifiable.
Thank you very much man. Appreciate the advice.
Does anyone else have an input on this topic? All help is greatly appreciated.
Take HSBC if those are the only options on the table. Relevant experience. MS, as the above poster mentioned, sounds more like a BO role.
