Am I early?
So here I am again having an unrest full nights sleep thanks to my insomnia always wondering about the future and if I'll make it to my dream job.And am asking you all(the ones with experience)what were you doing at the age of 16?I mean me Im planning on starting up on some community service since I can't do much of anything else(like job, internships, etc, etc.)So what were you guys doing at the age of 15 to hel achieve your job interest?
There is little to nothing that you could do right now which would have any meaningful direct impact on any future career. Enjoy your life. Get serious in college.
lol, age 15/16
first girlfriend; missed / slept through most school days; wasted my junior summer playing video games
advice to you: improve yourself without regard to any particular career objective in mind, aside from maybe getting into a good school. once you're in college nothing in the past matters anymore, aside from your SAT maybe. as long as you make that break you're set; you have the opportunity now to pursue what you're interested in without much regard to consequences / other responsibilities, and you should not let it go to waste; regretting the time i spent dicking around that could have been spent in other pursuits, but hasn't impacted my career prospects significantly
(though, will say that i'm a programmer looking to be a quant and spent quite a bit of my free time programming, ymmv)
edit: though i will suggest practice writing in your spare time; something that should serve you well in the long run
At that age I was with my first girlfriend and playing video games all day long.
Just nail your SAT and chicks.
socialize, as much as possible
SATs...
relax yourself. think of a school that might suit your needs academically. but please, enjoy your days with no responsibility
Learn to steal things and then re-sell them at a profit. You're in the business of making money.
I don't remember but I wasn't on WSO
Well, the world is always going to need ditch diggers.
J/k -- you shouldn't even be thinking about this, let alone stressing over it.

Thanks everyone for your meaningful responses I must have sounded dumb.(and I would give you guys silver bananas but my iPhone doesn't allow it)
Anything that involves personal development/self help/goal achieving. Gain as much wisdom as you can to improve your character. Never stop growing, always change into a better person each day. Youtube has an endless library of mentors, masters, and professionals all with great wisdom.
Play, enjoy, dream, explore, read, socialise and network (friends from youth tend to last longest), date girls, hone your talents (writing, playing an instrument, sports, collections, friends, story telling), pay attention in school and get good grades.
For a future profession, best thing is to inform yourself and network, so talk to your parents, friends from parents/relatives in this industry, older brothers from your friends doing this that you think is your dream job. The more you know about it, the most informed you can make your decisions.
You are living some of the best years of your life. You own your present, your future is yet to come. Keep your goals in mind, do your part and you'll get there. Over worrying is not going to solve anything... So relax a bit and enjoy your youth!
Now, back to sleep!
Enjoy your life. If you have an interest in sports it is certainly something that you should take part in as the competitiveness has correlation with your career. Most importantly at your age though is to enjoy it all.
To be completely honest, it is completely retarded that anyone on this site would entertain this post with a response.
Let me ask you something OP, would you tell your group of friends that you're not sleeping at night because you're worried about your job prospects in 8 years (presuming you're going to university)? Mine would've laughed at me; I'm a senior in college and if I told them I wasn't sleeping from it, they'd still laugh at me!
8 years is half your current lifespan away from now. Re-lax
All you need to do at this point is do well in school and prepare sufficiently to do your best on the SAT/ACT. Apply to universities that excel in the areas that are central to your interests ("Targets") and continue to do well academically. Things will naturally fall into place if you follow the definitive steps to succeeding in finance (grades, university selection, ec involvement, networking awareness). Nothing to stress about. If you are that concerned at this point, you will be just fine. Be sure to enjoy yourself at your age. I think one piece of criteria for success that often goes unspoken is the well-roundedness of your personality. No MD or recruiter is going to want to be around a kid that is socially inept and displays no traits of social ability/healthy work-LIFE balance.
At 16, you should be worried about enjoying yourself as much as possible (however that may be), while maintaining a simple awareness of what needs to get done in order to accomplish your career goals (grades, university selection, SAT/ACT). And, that is it. Take it easy.
Suck up to your chemistry teacher and find out if he is secretly a chemical genius that makes meth at 99% purity. Convince him to quit teaching and start building your empire business.
Get some rest
Do some useful hobbies/sports like guitar, basketball, golf, etc. These can help you make friends more easily later on.
