If your going to a job interview or work in general and its like 90-100 degrees outside. Do you have to wear a full suit to that job interview or work?

yes to the interview
regarding work, different for every job
Depends on job
But 95% of the time yes, suit for the interview. The only exception is when its a tech company with a lax office culture and even then, they have to tell you that beforehand.
Suit and tie generally to interview... but as others mentioned depends on company
At work....... depends. If you’re client facing you will generally know ahead of time when you need to wear a tie and when you can go more casual. Depends on what client it is, who you’re meeting with, and the agenda of the meeting.
Generally yes for an interview, unless explicitly stated otherwise
On a day to day basis it just depends on the work environment at each particular firm
Your office will eventually become an extension of your closet. I work in an area that is notorious for huge swings in weather and temperature so I keep an extra pair of shoes, jacket, vest, tie, etc. in the office for whatever fits the day. As for interviews, even if it is a lax office environment I would wear a suit. It's ultimately just a show of respect and accepting that although the office may not dress up, you're still an outsider and haven't earned that right yet.
Yeah, but a lighter material and color. I usually go with a light tan suit. If it is really hot, just take off the jacket en-route and put it back on when you walk in the building.
Am I Nuts? Summer Position Suits (Originally Posted: 07/27/2015)

Why do people keep making this mistake over and over again, considering that there are so many threads on this topic on WSO? Spending over $400 on a suit for a summer analyst position is not just a waste of money, it's harmful to your career at this point in time. When you wear your $2k Armani suit to work, everyone will notice (even if it is "conservative", as you stated) and automatically assume that you are a rich kid whose suit was bought by his/her parents (which is true in 99% of cases, even if that's not what happened in your situation). You don't want this stigma attached to you. Hang those suits up and go buy two suits at Jos A Bank, Men's Wearhouse, Combatant Gentleman, Indochino, etc. and wear those.
Well said.
I only own a few Jos. A Bank suits; I wear jeans in front of 90% of clients. That's the one good benefit of working in the midwest.
This just isn't true. I doubt anyone will notice and even if they do, I can't imagine anyone will care.
Your work product and attitude matters so much more than your clothes.
Deleted. So people will stop freaking out over nothing. Throw as much shit as you want: throwaway account...
WTF did I just read??? Not to go all patriotic on you here, but how can you compare a purple heart to anything like this (it's not even close to a gold medal, let alone a suit)......
Dude, you'll be fine. Enjoy the suits - people saying it's a detriment to your career are overreacting solidly.
You realize that you could have gotten this suits in almost new condition from eBay for under $250 a piece, right? Never pay this much for a suit, especially if you are an intern.
If I were in your situation I would return the suits and go to suit supply and buy 2-3 suits, extra shirts, and another pair of shoes (Should be fine with that money). At the end of the day wearing a prada suit isnt going to make or break your career, but at the same time you are already uncomfortable with the suit so why be uncomfortable everyday wearing it. Also, you will be happier with an extra suit, shirts, and shoes over two nice suits in my opinion.
Not a Prada suit. I am comfortable with them, but I don't want other people to be uncomfortable for whatever reason, so I'm asking. I'm good on shoes. The plan is to pick up a few charles tyrwhitt shirts.
@Sil I doubt I would get the same quality of suit on eBay for under $250. That seems a bit ridiculous. I have no problem with spending some money for quality clothes. I have a problem with an MD giving me crap for it.
Stop thinking about this. Wear those suits. No one will notice unless you purposely flash your jacket to show them the tag and brag. I wouldn't recommend spending that much on suits but you didn't so it doesn't matter. As long as you're not wearing a pimp like suit no senior person cares or will even notice.
"After all, suits are a bit like gold medals or purple hearts, you earn them not necessarily buy them."
No, they're not. And don't think like that at all. A purple heart is something you earn by being wounded or killed while serving your country and a gold medal is earned by being the best in your sport and sacrificing a decade+ of your life to perfect that sport. You buy a suit.

Fair enough. I might have gone too far with that comparison. Again, my apologies.
EDIT: Ouch. Monkey shit for apologizing.
Shut up about your stupid suit and produce quality work
Its good.
Summer suit appropriate for weddings and work? (Originally Posted: 06/05/2018)
any recommendations for a summer suit that works for both weddings and a business setting? Interested in something relatively cheap like a $400-$600 suitsupply suit or something. I'm guessing a lighter non-navy blue with a subtle pattern would work?
Full seersucker suit

I wondered if people thought that is appropriate is it a bit too brash?
I was trying to stay away from stripes but its in my sizes, its a pure wool suit and for £99 it seems a great price for the 2 piece
I do have a charcoal suit already
judging by your name, you'll be working in London. That suit should be fine. check out house of fraser. look for some deals (i recommend new and lingwood)
I would steer clear of this suit honestly. It is decent looking, but a little bit over kkill.
sorry, yes I should have made clear. I will be working in one of the biggest AM firms in London in the square mile.
I am worried it may be a bit of an over kill but I will check out house of fraser, thank you!
It is over kill. Don't even doubt it for a moment. Even as an analyst, you wouldn't wanna wear that suit very often. Every once in a while when you feel over-ballerish is okay but definitely not often.
thank you
I think I will just go for the plain navy blue wool suit instead. safer bet
I agree that it may be a bit too fashion forward but remember that its London and not America. You can get away with a lot more. A slimmer fitting suit is perfectly legit in London + pin stripes are also acceptable (provided that you look good in the suit). I would always recommend trying on a suit before buying it. It will save you a lot of time.
You'll be working in compliance right?
very true nauprillion, thanks!
and haha yes boreed, I think I know what youre going to say!
I may save the pinstripes for when I get something in the FO next year (fingers crosseD)
Lol. I mean it's a really good deal, you could buy it, wear your charcoal suit to start off with and then try the pinstriped suit on after like a week. By then you'll know how it would be perceived.
I mean it's a pretty sweet deal and if I had anything lined up at the moment I'd buy it. Unfortunately all I need right now is my bathrobe and slippers. :'(
not a bad idea at all!
it is so tempting because it is such a good price!
and haha, keep on trucking my friend and something will come along!
That is true, if you like the suit, who says you need to wear it right away? It's an investment and you'll have it for at least a year or two I'd think. Might as well have it on hand for that price.
aren't you concerned that it would be a piece of shit for ~100 bucks?
69 GBP = $112 US, whatever
