Another GPA Question - How they should be presented in the resume?
Hello,
This is another question about GPAs and how they should be presented in the resume.
I have a 3.1 GPA but the trend has been increasing from 2.6 in my first semester to 3.58 in my last semester. Can I spin this to my advantage (write it next to my overall gpa)? Or will it be dismissed anyway?
Thanks
Either way, you can't run away from the 3.1.
Why bother? Spinning it will just take up unnecessary space on your resume and make you look desperate.
I was thinking about just writing: 3.5 last semester gpa next to the 3.1 or would even that be weird?
It would look weird. You can have overall GPA and major GPA, but once you start getting more granular than that it gets pretty clear you're trying to make up for shortcomings.
What do you mean? The shortcomings are here, should I not try to make up for it?
Sounds like you already made up your mind...
I have definitely not made up my mind, but the GPA thing is a problem for me. Should I take it off completely?
Just put 3.1 and maybe your major GPA if that is higher. You can explain the trend in interviews when it comes up. Do not put your GPA from last semester, any time you try and slice it up into extremely specific criteria it begins to look weird.
ok! Thanks for the help guy!
