Any good real estate forums?
These are the results I get when I Google "real estate investing forums":
https://www.biggerpockets.com/forums
http://www.reiclub.com/forums/index.php
http://www.creonline.com/real-estate-investing-fo…
http://nreionline.com/forum
Are these any good? Other forums, preferably with real estate professionals (investment sales, development, repe, reits) participating?
Most of those look terrible unless you're flipping houses in Tuscon.
That's exactly the impression I had.
Bigger pockets has some good information, but you need to search for it amongst all the get rich quick flipper talk. If you're looking for financing help/information you can find leads and general advice as to what your options are.
Yeah I'd prob stick to WSO
Biggerpockets is great is you're looking for residential real estate forums. It's the most active site for that in the US. I'd say 10-20% of the people there are legit investors. The other posters are newbies asking questions like "How do i buy a house from auction in Vegas" It's a more entrepreneurial crowd with people who own a few properties here and there, or the few people who buy and sell dozens of properties a month (I know a few people personally like that who are on BP).
WSO obviously has more sophisticated commercial real estate professionals. But everyone here is anonoymous. The nice thing about BP is that you can follow some of the more educated investors who are pretty knowledgeable and work to build on their reputation.
Uhmm.... where is the good stuff? I spent a good half hr skimming and I could only find people talking about sub $200k deals. Apparently there are some parts of the country where you can buy a duplex for $24k.
REIT board on Motley Fool. Some very legit portfolio managers are actually on there. Old school board.
You weren't kidding, that layout is nightmarish. Thanks for the tip though.
I also heard about the fastlane forum. Some tips concerning real estate investments could be found on reddit and city-data as well.
This forum is pretty solid
I'd stick to that
Low traffic though

Real Estate Blogs? (Originally Posted: 12/06/2012)
Anyone got any real estate blogs they can recommend? I'm looking for daily reads similar to Zerohedge for trading, Dealbook for M&A, and Mish's Global for macro info. Thanks.
I love rationalrealist.blogspot.com . I think the llenrock (not sure of the URL, try googling) guys update theirs pretty regularly. A lot of the others are not updated and are old.
Thanks prospie, I also would be very interested in a few.
astudentoftherealestategame.com is a really good, fairly newer site. Also, I like the 1percentblog.com's valuation of the Shard articles.

Real Estate Industry Online Forums? (Originally Posted: 06/06/2012)
Hey guys, this isn't directly ibanking related, but I know many of your focus on the real estate industry. Does anyone know of any good forums like WSO, but dedicated to commercial real estate?
It seems crazy to me that there isn't a CRE forum on WSO.
i find it even more crazy that google cant find any CRE forums... anyone know of a good one?
There isn't crap out there real estate wise. Biggerpockets is the best I can find forum wise but there isn't anything on there for REIT or IB career path information, more investing and such.
think we'll be creating a dedicated RE forum soon. Stay tuned.
Agree with the above comments...
Some decent online material...

There are a few good RE guys on WSO. I don't know of any decent RE forums. There are a few decent RE news sites, but most industry gossip & knowledge is transmitted from person to person... pretty old school.
Try meeting people in person. Maybe through the ULI, informational interviews or the like.
here you go guys: http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forum/real-estate-finance-investing-care…
will be working now with mods to get RE related forum topics in there.
