Any Offers Going to Be Honored?
Are any offers going to be honored next summer? I recently accepted my offer from a MM bank I interned with this summer and am beginning to worry that I might be left high and dry. The bank hasn't made many writedowns recently, so I wasn't too worried. Given the freeze-up of the credit markets recently, I am sure NO deals are getting done right now. While some of the current analysts will be leaving next summer for PE jobs (that is if they still have a job), are banks really going to need any more people? Are offers going to be honored next summer?

No One has a crystal ball on here...if you would have asked a year ago whether or not Bear Stearns would collapse in March, most would think you're nuts.
The point is: While firms usually honor the commitments to analysts...the industry is changing rapidly. Even the HR person who told you "you're fine" has no idea where she/he will be in 8 months.
