Appproached by MBB firm

Just been approached directly about a consulting position with an MBB firm, and am interested if there is any view that my recruitment experience might be different from the typical case study format?

I have about 15 years work experience with tier 1 clients, in an advertising agency background. My current area of focus is in Loyalty Marketing Strategy.

I have an MA, and was in the top 5 of my class, but am a long way from the typical MBB candidate - not Ivy league. The HR person from the MBB firm *not an external recruiter* anticipates me working at the Consultant level, and is exploring a variety of positions.

Any thoughts?

They weren't specific about the level of the position, or what the position specifically would be. Seems to be market research/ strategy focused. I was told that the position would be 50% travel, working directly with organisation I was placed with. Not a lot of info to go on at the moment. I was just very surprised by the contact. Given they have my resume, I expect it's very clear to them how old I am...

Looks like they are interested to hire you at a mid/senior level, comparable to your current position. If so then they won't care much for your class rank, academic credentials etc and would be much more interested in how you can generate revenues for them.

Why do you think you are valuable to your current employer? Would that because of your industry knowledgeable, insights and ESPECIALLY connections with myriads of tier one clients in the advertising space accumulated through a decade and half of professional experiences? If so then the MBB is likely drawn to these same qualities.

Too late for second-guessing Too late to go back to sleep.
