Are analysts ranked?
I know that analysts are separated into "tiers" or "buckets" for bonus purposes, but are analysts actually ranked? Does each group (or even bank for that matter) have a "top-ranked analyst"? I know that some of the posts about PE recruiting talk about how they take the top-ranked analysts, but is there a way to actually tell how you stack up besides what kind of bonus you get?

Yes analyst get ranked and
Yes analyst get ranked and that is what determines your bonus. Its not ranking like he is #1 that guy is #67 etc... Most analyst get ranked in the middle i.e. they are all threes with the top analyst getting fives and the bottom analyst getting ones
