I'm new to business fashion/suits so I have a few questions. What do you guys think of Thomas Pink shirts and suits as far as quality say compared to Brooks Brothers? Also do they have regular sales or anywhere to find out? Any other recommendations in the Thomas Pink/brooks brothers category would be great. Thanks and I appreciate the help in advance.

TM Lewin is worth mentioning because of the price. They often go in the $25-$30 price range and occasionally you can find a decent shirts (Hawes & Curtis shirts are similar in price and quality). If you're willing to spend a little more Sunspel and Gieves & Hawkes make nice shirts and if your looking to really go all out you could fork over $300+ for a Charvet and T&A shirt.
When considering price and quality though it's Charles Tyrwhitt hands down. I also love their ties, belts and shoes. Polo's and knits are that great though.

Do you know about the fit of Charles Tyrwhitt, is it similar to Thomas Pink? Part of what I liked about the Thomas Pinks were the fit. I like a slimmer fit. I dont mean tight just not a lot of extra material. But thank you I will look into what you said.
For CT fit, the only think that sucks is the shoulders are a bit narrower than they should be given the measurements you order. Definitely stay away from the extra-slim-fit, as the slim-fit was a bit narrow for me.

Agreed. Their slim-fit is perfect for me, but the extra-slim fit is a little to narrow. I have a fairly large frame though (6'5 215lbs), so it would probably be perfect for someone with a skinnier frame. I prefer the slim-fit from CT over the same from Thomas Pink. Now for Brooks Brothers, I would take the trimmest fit possible. I bought a classic fit shirt online from them onetime and it was like something out of Thornton Melon's Tall & Fat Store ;)

Pink's Slim and Super Slim are comparable to Brooks' Slim and ESF shirts. I hate the box pleat Pink has in the back, but that's just my sour grapes because my shoulders are too broad to fit into a shirts that fit my waist without billowing out the pleat and looking ridiculous.

Pink's regular slim is a good amount slimmer than Brooks Slim, closer to Brooks Extra-Slim. Have not tried a Pink Super-Slim.
Extra slim is a good cut but the collar is something a hipster would wear, they've ruined a good line with it.

Have you ever seen Charles Tyrwhitt not on sale? Their quality is decent, I like the cut a bit more than BB which tends to be too narrow in the shoulders compared to the hips, but I don't think the material/stitching is as good
Agree-The fit is good, they do a nice job with having a good range of patterns, and they're a little cheaper than Brooks on the average day, but I always find the material pretty unimpressive.
TM Lewin is pretty comparable to Tyrwhitt for a slightly different option, no stores in the US though that I know of.

Thomas Pink quality and construction far greater than CT.
Depends on your firm, but most BB analysts would be fine with Brooks Brothers shirts. Just don't get too crazy with the colors. Your job is not to be a peacock.
BB shirts are the most traditional and common shirts for anything finance. Keep it white and in shades of blue.
Heard consultants love Brooks Brothers shirts.

Pockets are extremely appropriate for junior investment banking positions. You're a workhorse not a high flying baller. Get yourself a pocket-sized notebook and take some fucking notes when senior bankers give you directions or answer a question. The only drawback to BB is that you can arguably get similar quality for cheaper. In terms of style though they're literally 100% perfect for an IB analyst/associate.
I bought a few of those shirts the other day. While the quality is good, I do think it's outrageously overpriced.
Gotta buy them during the sales. I think I got 4 for around $50/piece, maybe even a bit less.
I honestly prefer Nordstrom's Trim Fit. Fit me better and I can find them on clearance from time to time for under $40/piece.
I personally prefer Jos A Bank higher end shirts which are usually around $135. I get them on a sale for $29-$39 which is a great deal. Great shirts much cheaper than BrooksBrothers. Although I just got a corporate discount at BB of 15% which is not bad either.
Brooks Brothers shirts are great. They now have four fits (Traditional, Regular, Slim, Extra Slim) and offer collar and cuff options in every fit. They used to have really limited selections in Extra Slim and Slim, but in the past two years they've really fleshed the lineup out. If you go during their Semi Annual sale (December and June), you can get 2 for 25% off or 4 for 40% off. The sale is running currently but ends July 2 (22 hours left, basically). They come to $52.80 a piece if you get 4, which is great for the quality. Get the non-iron ones, they are amazing.
I prefer them to Charles Tyrwhitt. Jos. A Bank I wouldn't be caught dead in. Nordstrom's I really don't have too much experience with.

For the life of me, I don't understand why people buy BB. For the money you can get custom shirts from many of the good shirtmakers in the city.

That said I got CT shirts for ~35 iirc and just had them tailored for 10 bucks, the quality is probably a little lower, but they fit well now and seem to be of fairly comparable quality. They also don't have pockets if you're in to that
Usually around $135? You are being scammed by Joseph man. None of their clothing is of the same quality as Nordstrom's or BB.
They will do big sales now and then and you can pick up 4 shirts for 200, which is a decent deal I think. Objectively the shirts are not that much nicer than Jos Bank or whatever but the non-iron looks good at the end of the day and they seem to last pretty well.
CT does a couple things pretty well (white shirts, more tailored fit, no pocket). That being said, extra-slim or slim fit BB clearance at $44 is still better value if you can get your size. I have bought one Pink shirt and doubt I'll get another, I don't like the split in the back and at that price point other medium end british shirts are better quality for money (Hilditch & Key for instance, not from Saks, from the UK website or T&A) and MTM begins to be an option.
Would never buy a CT suit. BB suits are very good value on sale (fabric and construction wise) you just need to keep an eye out for your fit/size and buy a couple at a time.

Find something that fits. You could were a JAB shirt as long as it looks good. Brands honestly are worthless.
Charcoal (dark grey) or navy. Black suits are traditionally more formal wear to be worn at night, or by funeral directors any time.
But you're a college kid interviewing for positions so no one actually cares that much, unlike the hype. As long as you don't show up in in a plaid suit, something 3 sizes too large or something truly funky you'll be ok. If someone dings you for wearing a black suit as an undergrad you probably shouldn't work for them anyway.
But if you're going to get a new suit, shoot for plain charcoal or navy. For a second suit, get the color you didn't get. And this is just general advice for so many people who post asking about all of this: go to Brooks Brothers and if you can afford it, get a suit there. If I remember they used to have a separates suit you could buy that wasn't very expensive and if you hit a sale it's very reasonable. And ask the guys who work in the suit section about what to get, fit, accessories, shoes, and anything else. They are typically very knowledgeable and they like working with young guys early in their careers because they can make you a customer for life. It worked with me.

Don't get too caught up in the hype. Simplicity is your best bet. Wear neutral clothing, and focus on knowing your shit.
The fit matters way more than the brand. Obviously don't shop at Walmart, but even slightly cheaper options like banana republic and charles tywin are more than enough if they fit you well.
BB = overpriced, ill fitting junk.
And black suits are for funerals and black tie events so unless you're going to either, you never wear 1. However, as others have mentioned, if you get dinged BC the color of your suit then you don't want to work at the place.
A couple of years ago BB slimmed down their styling so that they're much less of the sack suit and more european fitting.
You can wear whatever brand you want. Make sure the neck and sleeves fit and that it fits around your waist so it doesn't look like a blouse.
I don't know if you come from money, but if you don't, you absolutely should not be spending more than $40 on a dress shirt for interviews as a college student. Go to Banana Republic on Wednesday's when they have 40% off and buy a dress shirt for about that price. Get a tie from Tie Bar for $15. No one will know or care what brand you are wearing. The only things they might judge you for are fit and shoes (wear lace ups).
I wear extra slim fit and even they could be more slim and I am a 200 lb dude. I think BB is fine, but their non iron go to shit within a year. I'd just either a) learn how to iron or b) get shirts laundered and go with normal cotton shirts. I think they are a good go to shirt, but you can do better. Frankly, my issue with say a Macy's shirt or something like that is I like spread collars and mitered cuffs with two buttons. You don't find that usually. IMO, check out CT shirts. You can get them cheap and they have all kinds of styles. I wish I fit them, but just don't.
Get something that fits (or go to a tailor and get your shirt darted) and you will look better than 95% of the people out there. Whenever I look at people and think cheaply dressed it is because they are doing the following:
1) Ill fitting suit
2) Magenta colored shirt
3) Tacky tie (I love animals, so my ties have little animals on them [hermes, pink, BB, VineVines, etc). Have a nice tie, none of this Donald Trump shit.
4) Fit, Fit, Fit. Get a good tailor. Have some shirt cuff showing below your suit sleeve. Have a fitted shirt, make sure your suit comes in at the waist. Polish your shoes. No square toe. Bottom of your tie meets your belt buckle. Shit like that.
Much like everything in life, it comes down to the details. Focus on a well put together package and you'll be fine. But remember, none of this matters if you can't execute during the interview. Look good, but it will not save you if you're not prepared.
I personally like the extra-slim fit at CT, they fit me well at 5'11'' 170 lbs athletic build. I generally opt for the point collars- in my opinion these are closer to what most other brands would call a semi-spread.
Reviews for CT shirts here are stellar. I have to pop into the NYC store/s soon.
+1 for Charles Tyrwhitt. Their slim fit shirts fit me perfectly. I have some Brooks Bros. shirts but Brooks' slim fit is still kinda baggy, much prefer the fit of Tyrwhitt's slim fit shirts. Also, check out the clearance section on the Charles Tyrwhitt website, you might find some good shirts for as low as $39.
Edit: Another thing I like about Tyrwhitt shirts: all their dress shirts come with complimentary brass collar stays.
