Athletic Achievements on Resume?

What are your thoughts on athletic personal achievements on Resume? Not talking about team sports, but personal accomplishemnts such as running the Boston Marathon, New York City Marathon, London Marathon, Chicago Marathon, etc. Also completing Triathalons and such? I'm done a few of those things while in school and don't know how to use them to my advantage. On Thursdays when my buddies would go out drinking, I couldn't because I would have to train in the morning so would decide to just stay in a study. Then I would wake up at 5am, run for 2 hours until 7am around 16 miles or so, then come back and shower and get ready for class. My friend who works 60 hours a week would also do the same thing and I feel those are qualities that would make me a good worker for a company, although I may be wrong, but if I am right I'm not sure how to quantify this on a resume or highlight it.

Also how would people be able to prove that they did this and could employers/interviewers call your bullshit if you were lying. Do you suggest also stating race times, hours spent a week prepping for it etc.?
