Although this may sound dochey, I hope you get caught if you outright lie about something. That being said, stretching the truth a little bit probably won't affect you, if the gain is significant.
No. But the analyst reading your resume probably went to your school knows someone who was/is involved, and if he is bored/suspicious and calls them up, you are screwed. Not worth it. Especially for major organizations, like the school newspaper or large charity clubs.
I just received an offer contingent to passing background check (& yes I have not lied anything on CV).
How long does it take the HR department to do the background check? T
You don't want to do this, especially if your school has OCR. Many of the finance clubs have analysts who were previously a part of those clubs and know the people in the club, as well as leadership positions for the next year. If one of those analysts reads that you are the president of a club that he was a part of, then you will be called out for it.

Do you really think a bank cares if you are actually the president of the drama club?

No, they don't.
I was under the impression that they only check your transcripts(to confirm you went to the university state, GPA, major)..anyone know for sure?

Unlikely but don't claim to be the president and founder of all finance clubs on campus.
