Background Check - Paranoid
Hopefully someone who has HR experience can put my mind to ease about this. I recently got an offer to join the AM division of a BB and have just begun the (grueling) background check process. When I started my interview process, I had a 2.95 GPA which I obviously rounded to 3.0 on my resume. Since the interviews have concluded, I got some final grades back from last semester which dropped my GPA down to a 2.93.
Is this a cause for concern? I don't want them to think I lied or misled them throughout this process. I have a spotless criminal record, all of my prior internships can easily be verified, etc. Someone please put my mind to ease!
At the time of application your gpa can be verified as a 3.0 so you will be fine because you never lied about anything. When they hired you it obviously wasn't because of your gpa, so they won't care that it went down a bit
how did you get in with a 3.0 GPA anyway?
bump
You sure they dont care he rounded a 2.95 to a 3.0?
Throughout college, I put a lot of emphasis on getting as much work experience as possible. All in all, I finished with over 3 years of experience with 3 different BB firms (one of which was in NYC). I also co-founded a financial/economics magazine on campus, was a sector manager at our student-run equity fund (managed 22% of a $1.6 million portfolio), and have some volunteer experience as well. GPA was the thing that had to drop, unfortunately.
2.95 rounds to a 3.0. If he put 3.00 it might be an issue, but even then I doubt it because to be honest, 3.00 is still extremely bad and he must have impressed them in different ways.
So back to my original question - is this something I should be concerned about or should I simply try to stop over-thinking it?
