Background check - rescind offer?

Hi all,
I've accepted an offer from Accenture but won't start till August. Meantime, a background check will be done (according to recruiter in June). When I fill out paperwork, I will not omit any of the following:

I have 3 misdemeanor charges on my record from 2007:
Assault - dismissal with prejudice,
Underage consumption - dismissal with prejudice,
Disorderly conduct - guilty.

I'm having the 'guilty' judgment set aside by an attorney right now. I'm reading a lot about how big firms have zero tolerance for any kind of criminal background. Am I totally screwed, or does anyone know of getting through the background check with something like this on their record?

Thank you for your time.

Dude that is a pretty shitty set of charges. I get drunk, I get into fights, and sometimes I get really drunk. Two routes from here, you tell the HR person, full disclosure, explain what happened (if there is a decent explanation) and hope for the best. OR say nothing and hope for the best. With that set I honestly cant say which is better.

Rarely will any of my posts have enough forethought/structure to be taken seriously.

I ran a check that cost me $25 and this stuff showed up within minutes, so I'm not going to be naive enough to omit this information. If they ask about misdemeanors or arrests, I'm for sure going to disclose.

That being said, my story is something like..

"6 years ago I was in the Marines, at a bar in Yuma, AZ, and my group didn't mix well with the locals. Things escalated fast, a fight broke out. Police were called and everyone was arrested. I've had the charges set aside since then. I've learned my lesson; I no longer put myself in compromising situations especially if alcohol is around."

Ok, this is already a game changer. It's one thing to be some punk frat boy having a few drinks and starting trouble. It's another to have something happen in the service and you can spin this....JUST DON'T ACTUALLY LIE!

Here's your new story:

" A few war protesters started harassing you guys while you were off base for dinner with some old friends from back home. Police were called and everyone was arrested. You've had the charges set aside since then. You've learned your lesson; You no longer put yourself in compromising situations especially if alcohol is around. "

Who cares if it's true. You want this job dammit. And cut the knucklehead shit out, you have too much to lose.

Good luck, and thanks for your service.

Get busy living

I've spent some time in Yuma myself. Were you at Kress? Lol

What happened with your background check and offer with Accenture? I am in a similar situation.. few charges, one conviction, currently on probation for a case that will be dismissed at end of probation.. but am worried about Accenture rescinding the offer once my background check goes through.

i will obviously be as honest as possible. but did you make it through?

I just had my first day of orientation at Accenture. I was prepared all through last week to answer questions and explain my side but it wasn't necessary because they didn't ask.

I have a copy of my background check from HireRight and they flagged the county in Arizona I was worried about; not sure what happened but I consider myself extremely lucky. Horseshoe up my ass.

This is not to gloat; I feel obligated to inform WSO how I ended up. I passed the background check.

i do not take it as gloating. very happy for you! i am glad it worked out. i just wasn't as fortunate, but nothing i can do about that. if anything at least i know i am capable for getting a job at these big firms while i wait for my probation to be over. that is definitely encouraging for me personally.

good luck with the new job!

this post is dated but appreciate any replies.. did they phone you or email that they rescind the offer or did they ask yôu to drop by the office?
