Bankers opinion on my next watch (with pics)

My dad is giving me his old watch. I have to pay to get it fixed and I have the option of changing the face, i can't decide to save my life. I figured bankers would be the people to ask.

IMO, go with this one: http://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Watches/Pre-owned-Rolex-Mens-Two-Tone-…

I've seen a few of the other ones around in the industry (the first link is actually almost identical to the style another analyst has here at the bank, and constantly gets ripped on for the colour composition because it never goes well with his suits). The one I suggest is pretty thick plated with a good gold trim finish and heavy exterior (will last you for sure) and would go well with almost any suit/apparel. Good luck!

I'd second this. That face seems the most versatile.

Nothing screams Daddy's hand me down more than a 36mm two-tone datejust. If i were you, id get a new dial AND a leather strap instead of the bracelet. Here's an example of a cool looking DJ on a strap

True, but for me the highly polished steel wristband is no small part of a Rolex's appeal. Personally I'm partial to the Oyster with a blue dial.

I would probably not get this kind of Rolex. I've looked at them before and 1) you get mad stretch on the jubilee bracelet, 2) the locking clasp is flimsy and looks/feels like stamped steel and 3) it distinctly looks old and people will know you got the basic Rolex.

IMO, if you do this, and i suggest you don't, go buy a super jubilee bracelet for the watch as it is much more durable and doesn't have the stretch issues like the older datejusts do. And the prices on Overstock are way too much. You can do to any jeweler and buy one of these late model datejusts for ~$3,500.

Check this site out if you insist on buying this:

Don't get this model, but see the difference between the ones you are looking at and this one:

https://www.bobswatches.com/rolex-datejust-116233-blue-dial.html

The case is more prominent without being too big (41mm is big). This updated model comes with the super jubilee. It just looks better than a mid-80's datejust.
