Banks in Commodities - Research and Sources

My internship project this summer is to research the involvement (roles, activities and motivations) of Banks and Financial Institutions in the Commodities Space.

Does anyone have suggestions of sources or web sites I could explore to find both information about, and quantitative support for the following topics?

  • Hiring, retention and award policies of banks, especially over the last 6-18 months
  • Acquisitions and asset purchases (Transportation, Storage, etc.)
  • VaR, Volumes, Income, and break out of what commodities Banks are trading, and in what areas
  • Possible impacts of Financial Reform and the Volcker Rule on trading activities and hiring practices

Any thoughts, advice or guidance will be greatly appreciated!
