Barcap Finance Division Help!!!

Hey All,

I was wondering if you all can shed some light on the Finance Division at Barcap?

Any chance to move around to FO or up within the division?
Any great groups to try and leverage into?
Is starting salary in line with street standards? (70 plus 10)
Does Bonus vary with the group in which you support?
Any overall thoughts?

I can't believe someone who has to ask this question actually got an offer. Think about it. That's just asking for disaster.

Any chance to move up within the division?
Of course. What position doesn't allow you to move up within the division?

Same odds as every other BO job.

Like what? Other Finance teams? Product control, treasury, corporate development (?), FP&A, etc. Some are better than others and I don't know how people are placed into the slightly better roles, but I would most definitely stay away from shit like product control.

Yes.
Does Bonus vary with the group in which you support?
No. Not for the first couple of years anyway.
Any overall thoughts?
Same as every other BO Finance role out there, probably with similar structure, pay, groups, etc. Any BO Finance threads that you find are probably very applicable.

Since when did BO pay $70,000 + 10k bonus?

Finance pays 65-70k. Operations around 55-60k. Both get 10k at signing. End of year bonus is probably the same. Actually for my year, Finance had lower bonuses, so the all-in comp was almost the same as Operations (Ops analysts were also eligible for OT pay, while Finance was not). Not sure if that's the standard, but either way, it's all pennies really. What's a 5-8k swing either way?
